We are a small show breeder of the beautiful Biewer a la Pom Pon. We added our first Biewer to our family in October of 2005 and named her Lilly. We instantly fell in love with her loving personality and beautiful colors.

Our love for this breed has changed our path in life. We are now devoted to not only our dogs, but the betterment of this breed. We spend endless amounts of time researching these dogs, breeding, and genetics. We are also very active in showing our dogs in an effort to not only receive professional approval of our dogs, but also to help promote the breed.

We are a charter member of the Biewer a la Pom Pon Club of America and would love if you would take a moment to visit the clubs' webpage. The BAPPC is comprised of dedicated Biewer breeders and fanciers determined to promote, protect, and further the advancement of the Biewer a la Pom Pon. You will find great information and very knowledgeable people who are always happy to educate others on this breed.

History of the Biewer a la Pom Pon

In 1984 Werner and Gertrude Biewer produced what would later be known as the first Biewer Yorkshire Terrier a la Pom Pon. The parents of the first Biewer Yorkshire Terrier were two blue and gold Yorkshire Terriers named Darling von Friedheck and Fru Fru von Friedheck, both world youth winners. Due to the presence of a recessive piebald gene, a puppy (later named Schneeflocken von Friedheck) was born with blue, white, and gold coloring. While this coloring did not conform to the standards of the Yorkshire Terrier, Mr. and Mrs. Biewer continued breeding to produce these colors. Through continual breeding they learned how to control the placement of the markings, which can be found in the breed standard used today. In 1989 the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier a la Pom Pon was accepted as a separate breed by the ACH German e.V.

Now, more than 20 years later, the Biewers are still surrounded by controversy. It is important for those looking to get involved in the breed to realize that most of the disagreements, both in the U.S. and Germany, are due to the fact that the breed is still very new. While many are working very hard to do what they feel is best for the breed, it is impossible to know at this time just what path should be followed. We highly encourage those starting out with the Biewers to do as much research as possible and to contact the different breed clubs and many different breeders. By understanding the different views and the reasoning behind them, each person can make an informed decision as to how they would like to build their breeding program.
